Effective: October 2026 · PayRetry (failed-payment recovery for Shopify)
1. What we collect
- Store data: your store domain, your PayRetry plan/subscription status, and
an access token Shopify issues so the app can call the Shopify Admin API.
- Failed checkout data: customer email address, Shopify checkout and order
identifiers, order amount and currency, and the payment error code.
- Message log: which recovery emails were sent to which failed checkout and when.
- Request logs: webhooks and API requests we receive (store domain, timestamps).
We do not receive or store full payment card details — payment data never passes through our
servers; payment links go directly to your store's Shopify checkout.
2. Why we process it
- To detect failed payments and send recovery emails (the core service).
- To show recovery metrics in your dashboard.
- To manage your subscription and prove entitlement to app features.
- To respond to data access and deletion requests.
3. Legal basis and email sending
Recovery emails are sent to customers whose own payment failed (transactional messages about
their order), using the email address Shopify provides on the checkout. Each email identifies
your store as the sender and contains no marketing content from third parties.
4. Sharing
We do not sell personal data. We share it only with: Shopify (APIs and webhooks
you connect us to), our hosting provider (where the app runs), and our
email delivery provider (used only to send the recovery messages). We never
receive card numbers — payments are processed by Shopify Payments/your payment providers.
5. Retention and deletion
- Data is kept while the app is installed in your store.
- We implement Shopify's mandatory compliance webhooks: customers/data_request
(provide a copy of stored data), customers/redact (erase a customer's data), and
shop/redact (erase all of your store's data, received 48 hours after uninstall),
completed within 30 days of the request as Shopify requires.
- You can also request deletion directly at the contact below.
6. Your rights
Depending on your location (GDPR, CPRA and similar laws), you have the right to access, correct,
export and delete your personal data. Requests from end-customers go through the store owner and
Shopify's data request flow; store owners can contact us directly at any time.
7. Cookies
Our app uses only a session cookie needed for the installation flow and plan pages. No tracking
or advertising cookies.
8. Contact
